Water Depot

Treatment systems can fix any water problem

Would you drink or bathe in yellow water? Does metallic-tasting, brown water sound appealing? If your water is murky and full of tannins and sediments, would you still drink it?

The answer to these questions for most people is a resounding “no,” says Eric Dube. He and Nicole Blanchet own Water Depot locations in Bracebridge, Barrie, and Wasaga Beach.

Fortunately, all of these conditions can be fixed with the right system.

“Each water treatment need is different,” explains Eric. “Some homes have iron-rich water, others have microorganisms and pathogens, while still others have a build-up of tannins and sediments. And some have a combination of issues.”

To treat microorganisms and pathogens like E. coli and coliform, one of the first options is a UV system which uses high-intensity ultraviolet light.

However, a UV system alone may not be enough. Tannins and sediments are often found in lake and well water. These organic substances can tint the water yellow or brown, and impact its taste. And if not removed before entering a UV system, they can build-up and make the UV light ineffective.

“That’s why it’s important to have us test your water and find a treatment solution that fits your needs,” says Eric.

Iron-rich water is another common issue Eric and his team treat. Usually having a rusty hue with a bad odour, iron-rich water can leave stains in your sink and toilet. It also has a metallic taste to it.

“Iron-rich water also poses problems to your pipes and fixtures as it can build up and cause clogging.”

Improved taste
It’s not only rural areas which can benefit from Water Depot services: many property owners getting municipal water like to have more filtration in their home, or find the water too hard and want a softener.

“The water provided from the taps is already potable, meaning it’s safe to drink and bathe in,” says Eric. “But, when you add a softener and a drinking water filter system, it improves the taste tremendously.”

Building relationships
Once your Water Depot water treatment system is up and running, Eric and his team recommend setting up preventative maintenance to make sure you continue having top quality water now and well into the future.

They have a selection of maintenance packages that will provide in-home service and keep track of when bulbs and filters need replacing, so you don’t need to.

“Our clients become part of the Water Depot family,” says Eric. “We’re there for them every step of the way, making sure they have clean, clear and safe drinking water throughout their home or cottage.”
