In any field, it pays to do your research to seek credible service providers; that’s doubly so when it comes to sensitive procedures such as hair transplants and hair restoration treatments. Few things affect us as deeply as how we look, and improving our appearance can bring an immeasurable boost to our confidence at work and in our relationships.
Dr. Jonathan Huber and Dr. Ashlin Alexander of Toronto Hair Transplant Surgeons (THTS) are both trained and licensed surgeons, an extreme rarity in the hair transplant field. Dr. Alexander is a Manhattan-trained, board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, and specializes in aesthetic surgery of the face and hair. He and Dr. Huber joined Dr. Robert Jones – a veteran hair transplant doctor at THTS – a number of years ago. Dr. Jones has since retired from practice.
Dr. Huber believes that providing personalized, doctor-delivered surgery is the ethical thing to do.
“At many clinics, the person who sells you the treatment is not necessarily the person performing the surgery. And the person doing the surgery likely isn’t the doctor, but rather a technician who you’ve never met and know nothing about. That’s something we do differently – at our office, the surgeon does the surgery,” says Dr. Huber.
This is also work that makes both surgeons proud of their high-level skills. “I’ve treated people who come to their first appointment wearing a hat, having a hard time with their hair loss situation,” explains Dr. Alexander. “And then I see them again a year later, after their procedure, and they’re smiling and telling us they are dating again, or advancing in their careers, or just feeling much more confident about themselves. It’s extremely gratifying work.”

Both doctors work with patients from around the globe: many fly to Toronto specifically for the high-quality services provided at this clinic. They look forward to continued work with Muskoka clientele, many of whom divide their time between the GTA and their cottage properties – both doctors have family connections with Muskoka and love spending time in the area.
“We like to remind patients that this is day-surgery, done under local anesthesia, while you watch movies on our big screen TV. It’s very comfortable and essentially pain-free. We can do your surgery and have you back on your dock enjoying the recovery process in a matter of hours!” says Dr. Huber.
Patients can range from age 18 to 88. Some have a fairly typical hair-loss journey, while others face complications from health conditions or injuries. The team also works with people going through gender transitioning, who may wish to redesign their hairlines to suit their identities. Whoever walks through the clinic doors in Oakville, from consult to surgery to follow-up, they can be confident that they’re in experienced, caring hands.
