Have a lifetime of enjoyment with the right deck and dock boards

There’s nothing like hanging your feet off the end of a dock to make you wish summer could last a lifetime. While we can’t make the summer last, your dock can last with the right materials.

Terry Fangrad, the owner of TIVA Building Products, has worked in the deck and dock industry for decades and has found a commonality in the many flaws of traditional decks: organic materials.

“Organic materials like wood and sawdust are subject to degradation,” Terry explains. Boards that contain organic wood can split, rot, warp, and deteriorate over time.

This limitation is what led Terry to create TIVADEK and TIVADOK PVC decking.

“Ours is an innovative, patented line of PVC decking and dock boards made completely of inorganic material.”

TIVADEK Boards
Each solid PVC board is capped and molecularly bonded with acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) – a material that’s known in the automotive industry for UV resistance, colour retention and durability.

“Our boards are crafted with a natural wood grain, and colour inspired by nature, along with contemporary colours like white (Birchwood) and the industry’s first true black (Charwood) PVC decking.”

TIVADEK withstands moisture, insects, sun, and Canada’s extreme winters, and is durable enough to be used in high-traffic areas like restaurants and golf clubs.

TIVADOK Boards
TIVADOK is designed for installation on existing dock frames that are built with supports up to every 32 inches.

All of the company’s boards are built with the same high-quality PVC and ASA capstock. However, the TIVADOK Marine Series boards also have a unique two-by-eight-inch profile, reinforced with an aluminum core to achieve spans of up to 32 inches on centre.

TIVACOAT
The company has also created a unique sealant that resists mould and mildew to protect deck substructures better than the joist tape that’s traditionally used.

“Our liquid-applied waterproof membrane will extend the life of any wooden substructure once it’s cured,” says Terry. TIVACOAT shields the surface of wood from rain, humidity, snow, ice, and other debris. Unlike tape, it expands and contracts with the wood, creating a perfect seal even around drilled-in screws. With this new product, the lifespan of your decking’s substructure can be extended to its full potential.

“We want you to minimize the work and the maintenance that you put into your deck while maximizing the time you spend enjoying it.”
