The Cove Marine

True offshore performance on the lake this summer

Formula boats have built a longstanding status for being fast, tough and reliable competitors. They earned this reputation through a commitment to excellence spanning over 60 years.

To a select group of cottage owners Formula boats go beyond the performance stature. They’re also valued for being incomparably fashioned for the individual.

Everything from the engine right down to the colour and material of the seats is customizable when buying a Formula. Premium materials combined with hand-crafted details create a look to match the function.

“It really isn’t like any other boat out there,” says Michael Shaw, who owns The Cove Marina with his brother David. “Formula boats are cherished by their owners.”

Being able to select the features of your boat is ideal for cottagers wanting to join the elite boat owners’ crowd. Personalized graphics can be created to match your alma mater, your business or your favourite sports team. Or match your vehicle colour to create a sleek look when trailering. Cabin materials and surfaces are also interchangeable.

“Formula’s customizable options allows you to mix and match upholstery base, accent and piping colors to your individual preference for a completely one-of-a-kind look,” says Michael. “When you drive your custom-designed and -made boat, it brings a larger sense of pride than buying a stock model would.”

Great for lakes
While continuing to build prize-winning race boats, Formula’s line-up includes cruisers, yachts and bowriders. Michael says the latest line of bowriders are perfect for cruising Central Ontario lakes in style while entertaining family and friends.

Helm and passenger backrests which easily adjust fore and aft on continuous wraparound lounge seating are a standard feature. They allow your guests to enjoy the view or be part of a group conversation without having to contort their bodies. It’s also easy to keep abreast of other boats and watersports taking place around you.

Other standard features include double helm seating, multiple USB charging ports and Bluetooth. The cockpit combines gelcoat colours with liquid-black dash panels and Corian – an elegant brand of solid surface material from Dupont Design – throughout.

“The design blends practicality and aesthetics,” says Michael. “The bowriders are created to be comfortable for all on board.”

Optional fixtures on all models include LED cockpit lighting packages, a compact bathroom, and a wet bar for entertaining at anchor.

To further improve the experience on the lake for you and your guests, add a water sport swim platform and swim seat.

“It’s up to you, but my advice is to go for the swim platform and swim seat,” says Michael. “It’s perfect for kids and adults who enjoy a quick dip while out boating.”

Stellar history
Formula began building world-class offshore racers in the 1960s. Winners of multiple cruiser- and boat-of-the-year awards, two Mercury Constructor’s Cups and several championship races, Formula continues to build on a tradition of excellence. The company is still family-owned and operated, and still builds every boat by hand.

The Cove Marina, located in Muskoka, is the only Formula dealer in Ontario. Formula boats are a great fit with what The Cove strives for, says Michael. Founded 30 years ago, The Cove aims to deliver the highest quality products to their customers.

“They’re built with performance and safety in mind,” he says. “Formula won’t sacrifice structural integrity for the sake of comfort. This makes them the perfect fit for our marina.”

While the boat is being built, Formula will send photo updates to the future owner. Buyers can even take a tour of the plant in Indiana.

“Before the pandemic, four out of five buyers we sold to went to the Formula plant to watch their boat being built,” says Michael. “We expect to see buyers continue doing that as things open up.”

It makes sense, he says, given that owners tend to stick with their Formula boats for a long time. “People own them for a lifetime. You never see one being traded-in.”

Get dirty for clean water

You may have a water treatment system, but is it doing its job? Regular maintenance is vital to keeping your water clean and safe.

REAL ESTATE

Demand still high, but buyers taking their time

The real estate market is normalizing, and despite what some panicky naysayers may think, the idea that cottage prices will be plummeting is farfetched.

Tried and true collection makes an architectural statement
