Boating is synonymous with summer. Fishing, waterskiing, or just getting to a water-access cottage: a reliable, fuel-efficient and high-performance outboard motor makes everything on the water better.
Mike Johnson of Hamer Bay Marine is a proud Suzuki Canada dealer, and his confidence in the quality of the product shines through. He, and his father Terry before him, were Evinrude dealers until the brand stopped production.
The search for a replacement led them to Suzuki, and Mike couldn’t be happier. “It turned out to be a great thing that we had to switch brands after decades of working with another one,” he explains. “The Suzuki Ultimate models offer so much more. We repower a large number of boats with Suzuki’s Ultimate outboards.”
Repowering is the term for replacing a worn-out or less desirable outboard with a more efficient, high-performance option. It means you can keep the boat you love while enhancing its fuel efficiency, with the added bonus of a five-year warranty. And it’s definitely less costly than replacing an entire boat.
“Suzuki Ultimate outboards feature smooth and peppy acceleration with amazing torque,” says Hamer Bay’s shop supervisor Ben Rever. “The offset driveshaft, 2.50 gear ratio, multistage induction and direct intake make them a winning choice for people who want to use their boats for a variety of activities.”
The fuel injection system on Suzuki Ultimate Outboards reduces fuel consumption and burns lean. This feature is available even on the smaller portable models, starting at 9.9 HP, which benefit from this technology, yet do not require a battery. This combines great performance with lower fuel consumption, which is in alignment with company initiatives such as the Clean Ocean Project.
Newer models such as the DF115B and DF140B even include a function we can all get behind, with Micro-Plastic Collecting Devices (MPCs). This makes boaters part of the solution to the problem of microplastic pollution in waterways across the world: the device detects and collects plastic materials that harm marine life. Microplastics are found in lakes and rivers, too.
Testing out a Suzuki outboard is as easy as contacting an authorized dealership – Mike and his team have a number of boats equipped with Suzuki outboards for people to try.
“We know that a number one concern with boat motors is reliability,” Mike says. “Whether it’s about rec activities, getting around the waterways with family and friends, or a contractor performing a job, we know Suzuki Ultimates can be counted on.”
