Keeping your family warm and comfortable takes precision.
“Each building is unique, so our clients need tailored solutions that will ensure their structure is safe, efficient and comfortable – whether it’s their summer cottage, winter chalet, or year-round home,” says Curtis Hinksman, owner of Soundseals Insulation, one of the region’s leading insulation installers.
It’s been almost 20 years since Curtis started Soundseals, but he says it feels like yesterday.
“When I moved my family from the city to this area where we had been cottaging for years, I noticed there was something lacking in the insulation industry in Muskoka,” he says. At that time, fibreglass insulation (both batts and loose-fill forms) was most common, but builders were looking for ways to give their clients more efficient solutions. To fill the need, Curtis offered spray foam as an alternative to fibreglass.
“Spray foam expands and fills any crevices and imperfections in the walls. It also acts as an air barrier as opposed to just an R-value, which is important,” says Curtis. “With other kinds of insulation, if installed incorrectly, you could have lots of gaps in your home or cottage. If you add them up, that’s basically the size of a two-by-three window. You may not feel it, but it’s like leaving a window open all winter long.”
As the industry and company grew, Curtis brought on his brother, Colin Hinksman, first as an installer, and now as general manager. And more recently, Curtis’ son Chris Hinksman has been brought on as an estimator and certified spray foam installer.
“We have worked with many clients on some amazing projects,” says Colin. While working with family has its perks, he says it also benefits the families they serve.
“We’re not just here for a pay cheque,” says Colin. “We want the business to carry on for future generations. That means making sure customers are happy at every corner and developing long-term relationships. We never see anyone as one and done.”
Making each client happy starts with investing in new tools, training and techniques to ensure their work is the best it can possibly be.
“Insulation is the number one way to ensure your home is energy efficient,” says Curtis. “We’re always looking for ways to make it better and make your building envelope tighter, so you can enjoy comfort for years to come.”
The best way to keep your family warm this winter is to call the Soundseals family for a free estimate. “We’re here for all your insulation needs.”
