You come to Muskoka to enjoy the outdoors; shouldn’t you be able to do that while also working out?
For cottagers who work out at Shock Fitness, the answer is an emphatic yes! Located on the shores of Lake Joseph, this outdoor gym and training centre has been serving Muskoka for over 20 years.
Shock Fitness provides 4,500 square feet of gym space, letting members take in amazing lakefront views and fresh air. Located at the Lake Joseph Club, it is accessible by boat as well as car.
The fitness club welcomes all levels – from beginner to elite. “We have a real sense of a community at the gym,” says Terrance Joyce, founder and master trainer at Shock Fitness. “We’re all advocates and rooting for each other to improve our health and fitness levels.”
Some members love the social aspect, finding it helps their confidence levels and increases their desire to go to the gym. Others prefer a more solitary style of workout, which the fitness centre also welcomes: Terrance explains there are those who come to the gym, put their earbuds in, get the job done and head out.
“It’s really about what you want to get out of it,” says Terrance. “We provide the tools and the location where it can be a social space or a solo space – and everyone respects each other’s preferences.”
Shock Fitness has gained a solid following among a wide range of users, from business professionals to high-performance athletes.
“It usually only takes one visit and then they fall in love with the atmosphere,” explains Terrance. “We get a lot of compliments on the quality of the location and the gym combined.”
Terrance and his team also provide exceptional personal training to those who want it; they help clients improve and maintain their overall physical and mental well-being.
They create a customized training regimen, which is fueled by the client’s hard work and commitment to achieve their optimal health.
“Reaching your fitness goals is about more than simply losing weight and gaining muscle,” explains Terrance. “It also means feeling better mentally and emotionally as you continue along a healthy lifestyle journey.”
Reaching your fitness goals is a journey. Shouldn’t part of your journey take place on the shores of a gorgeous lake?
