Stylish Shelter

Protection and beauty under one awning

The sun, rain and wind are marvelous forces of nature, with the operative word being forces. When left unprotected, your valuables can be damaged by these amazing elements.

A cantilevered awning offers the protection you need from all of these forces, explains Lindsay McCready, Aquadome sales coordinator.

“You’ve invested a lot of time and money in your boat, cars and furniture,” says Lindsay. “Make sure they’re well-protected.”

Sun is especially worrisome, as it can cause wood and other materials’ pigments to permanently fade and discolour. Shade is essential, particularly when the sun’s rays are at their most powerful: 60 per cent of a single day’s UV radiation exposure occurs between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, rain can cause moisture build-up in your boat leading to rotting wood, mould and mildew. The canopies will also provide protection from pine needles, pine sap and leaves gathering on your boat.

Cantilevered awnings, car shelters, dock slip covers, and deck shades provide cost-efficient protection. With tightly fitted marine-grade canopies and strong frame construction, Aquadome has built a reputation for durability over more than 30 years.

Cantilevered awnings can be mounted in different ways, providing shade for you and your loved ones.

Aquadome is able to help you determine the perfect fit by simply knowing your boat size and model as well as your dock type. They fabricate cantilevered dock and deck shade designs themselves, customizing them to suit the property.

Don’t sacrifice style
“Not only will our cantilevered awnings function well, but they’ll look good too,” explains Lindsay. “You don’t have to sacrifice your exterior décor to protect your valuables. We recently matched two awnings to a boathouse where the result was tremendous.”

This boathouse was white and Aquadome’s clients wanted the waterfront structure’s additional items to follow suit – specifically the awnings made to cover their boats. The awning fabric and powder-coated frames are both white.

“We were able to beautifully match the look and feel of the boathouse,” she says. “The white-on-white-on-white is a classy touch to a classic boathouse.”

With or without a boathouse you can still add custom style to your waterfront while protecting your boat or ensuring shade at your dock.

Lindsay says there are other options as well: 15 different fabric colours are available, making it easy to accent or match tones with your exterior. The frame can be made in a silvery aluminum colour or powder-coated in white or black.

“You get the best of both worlds, a durable structure to protect your valuables that is an aesthetically pleasing addition to your property.”
