Preventive Measures

Proactive solutions address potential pest problems

A small, almost undetectable bit of sawdust is sitting in a corner of the floor.

To the average homeowner, this looks like a little bit of regular dust or debris to be swept up and forgotten about. But to the experts at OneTek Pest Solutions, it’s a warning sign that carpenter ants have inhabited a building. Thus, it is best to address pest problems before they get out of control, causing excessive damage.

“It’s why we recommend our preventative maintenance plans,” explains Nathan Kaye, co-owner of OneTek. “I was recently at one home installing a mouse control program, when I noticed a colony of carpenter ants had moved into a basement crawl space area. Now, we can find a solution for both pest issues to protect the property and the family who lives there.”

These small but mighty insects may not seem like a problem as individuals or pairs, but a full colony can decimate a building structure and cause extensive – and expensive – damage if left to their devices. They find moist or damp areas to nest in, then go to work picking away at the material.

This is one of the reasons being on a regularly scheduled pest maintenance program is important, explains Nathan’s business partner Bryan Carrigan. OneTek will schedule visits three to nine times a year – depending on what pest control is needed – and keep a watchful eye for other potentially harmful situations.

“We know what to look for and can even tell if a squirrel has burrowed its way into your soffits,” says Nathan. “Our proactive approach allows us to catch these pests before they become a big issue. We work year around, and can offer our clients peace of mind with a set of eyes on their home during the winter when they’re not there.”

Nathan has been in the pest control business for 20 years, and he has owned his own business for the last 15. He recently partnered with Bryan to purchase and combine existing pest control companies to create OneTek, which provides control services for all insects, rodents and other pests to Simcoe, Muskoka and the surrounding areas.

The hands-on knowledge and experience Nathan has acquired is helpful in finding proactive solutions for OneTek’s clients. Whether it’s discovering a small bit of sawdust, a hole or other evidence from a rodent, or other signs of pests infiltrating your home, the OneTek team wants to protect your property.

“We’ll shield you from unwanted invaders, so your only worries are how to best enjoy your home.”
