Great views without the damaging UV rays

Sunlight brings plenty of benefits, but too much of a good thing can be bad for us – and for our surroundings.

This is especially true for home and cottage interiors – be it the structure itself or items within – that have been hit by the sun for too long.

Those stunning hardwood floors, the family heirloom grand piano, an exquisite original painting, antique furniture, and much more can be easily damaged by intense UV rays entering through windows of all sizes. Protecting your beautiful décor is an essential part of maintaining your property, says Ryan Maksymiw of Ontario Pro Tint.

“Top-of-the-line solar films will offer the protection you need,” explains Ryan. “Not only will they provide 99 per cent UVA and UVB protection – with an equivalent to 285 SPF – but the nearly invisible solar films will do the job without obstructing the view.”

Made from a variety of precious metals, including gold and silver, the solar films are on the lighter side of the spectrum to give all the protection of opaque tints without being too dark.

Ontario Pro Tint specializes in home and residential film solutions, perfect for central Ontario where summer days are long and sunny.

“We can help protect your investment by defending it against the UV rays that will cause extreme fading,” explains Ryan.

As well as the solar films, which come with a 10- to 12- year warranty, there are security, privacy, heat and frosted films available in varying degrees of opacity.

Certain solar and heat films will even help keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Not having to turn the air conditioner or furnace on as often means potential savings on energy costs.

“They also add a lot of comfort, which increases enjoyment of the areas where people congregate.”

Safety first
The films are also used in commercial applications. Some lighter films that are designed to prevent destructive impacts during heavy windstorms have been used on barriers at reception areas for added employee safety. Heavier security films, which can delay window entry up to 20 minutes, have been installed in hospital wards and on medical dispensaries.

Privacy films, which are on the darker end of the visible spectrum, are great for offices as well as bedrooms and other areas where prying eyes are not wanted. Frosted films add a decorative touch to windows, front doors and walk-in showers.

“Different films can be beneficial in various parts of your home, cottage or even office,” says Ryan. “We will happily visit for a consultation to determine the best products for your needs.”
