North Country Contracting Muskoka

Laying concrete made easier with quality equipment

Building a cottage or home usually means pouring a lot of concrete for footings, foundations, and concrete pads. Renovations and additions can involve concrete steps, patios, shed or garage floors, and more.

But this being Muskoka, it’s quite likely that you will need the concrete somewhere a concrete truck can’t reach. That’s where a boom pump or a line pump can save the day – and save money.

“Our pumps allow you to place the concrete where you need it,” says Matt West of North Country Contracting. “Using the right equipment for your concrete jobs means saving time, energy, and money.”

Matt founded North Country Contracting in 2011 and brings over two decades of experience in the stone and concrete business to every project. Over the past few years, they started offering the boom and line pumping services to contractors and their own clients.

Though both boom pumps and line pumps are effective and essential on job sites, they each have their specific uses.

Boom pumps
Boom pumps are ideal for projects such as foundations and footings as they provide both speed and accuracy.

The hydraulic boom pumps require relatively minimal effort as the operator just needs to walk the end of the hose around the site of the pour.

Matt says more often than not the boom pump is requested for concrete placement.

“Unless it’s a very specific project, the boom pump is the top choice of our clients.”

Line pumps
But sometimes the boom pump isn’t sufficient. When pouring in hard-to-reach locations – such as a basement or garage floor in an already built structure – a line pump is the way to go.

“Or it could be pouring a patio or large stone steps down at the dock, or in specific footing or foundation pours,” explains Matt. “Essentially all those spaces and places the boom pump truck can’t reach. We have a hose of up to 350 feet long that helps get the concrete to where it’s needed.”

Both the line and boom pump require an expert operator at the main pump. The line pump needs a bit more manpower to move it around the job site.

North Country Contracting will provide their own professional operators to run the equipment, but are happy to work alongside their clients or arrange for additional labour, depending on the client needs.

“We’re here to help make your projects run smoothly,” says Matt. “We have the experience and equipment you need to get the job done right.”
