Peter loved his new cottage, but it came with an interesting opportunity. The lake side of the property was largely unfinished, apart from a series of 20-foot posts supporting a deck.
He called Kevin Cardwell of Muskokify to discuss options. “He said that we should put a second deck under there,” Kevin recalls. “I said ‘I’ll do you one better: we’ll make you a Muskoka room.’”
“We recaptured the space that was totally lost,” he says. “All they had was six-by-six posts going into the ground. Now they have 400-plus square feet of indoor-outdoor living space.”
Muskokify was able to work with the existing beams, which were stabilized by the rock below. Ten feet below the existing deck, they built a floor which served as the base for a Sunspace sunroom.
Working with Sunspace allows Kevin and his team to fully customize the layout, placing panels, and Weathermaster windows and doors in locations that best suit the site. Colours and materials can also be customized. “You can add windows, doors, and panels to any part of the room,” explains Kevin. “The vinyl glazing can be tinted for privacy as well; the doors can be vented doors.”
Everything is fabricated in a temperature-controlled environment to ensure the highest quality of craftsmanship.
The result is a three-season space that is perfect for any weather. “All the screened windows can be opened to let a comfortable breeze through and then closed again when it’s a bit too chilly outside.”
Peter says he and his family spend a lot of time in their new space. When his kids and friends visit, they “hang out in the Muskoka room the whole time.”
Muskokify became an official Sunspace dealer a couple of years ago, adding the popular manufacturer to its line of products to enhance their clients’ outdoor living enjoyment.
But, he adds, if Sunspace isn’t quite the right fit for your home or cottage, they also have plenty of other options to enclose or screen in a space.
“Having more living spaces to enjoy the outdoors while in a protected environment only serves to make your home or cottage experience even better.”
