Muskoka Teak

Upgrade your cottage with quality furniture

No cottage exterior in Muskoka is truly complete without a beautiful seating area and a strong umbrella.

It’s why the creative thinkers behind Muskoka Teak have long carried high-quality umbrellas produced in Canada, Italy, and the United States. Built with quality components for longevity even in tough weather conditions, they’re perfect for your cottage.

For years brothers John and Trevor Philbrick, who own and operate Muskoka Teak, have provided customers with a choice of either Tuuci or FIM umbrellas – each having their own benefits. But they realized there was something missing, so they have filled the gap with Frankford umbrellas.

John says having Frankford products at Muskoka Teak allowed them to “close the circle on the best umbrellas in the market,” and have three levels of umbrellas to offer their clientele.

“Tuuci still is the best umbrella in the world,” he says. “And the dollar-for-dollar value on FIM cantilevered umbrellas is unmatched. Frankford has good value and provides that mid-level budget option.”

In particular, Muskoka Teak has the Frankford Eclipse, a cantilever umbrella featuring 360-degree rotation and a tilt system allowing a multitude of angles – so you can have maximum shade coverage throughout the day.

Like all products sourced by Muskoka Teak, the Frankford umbrella is built with durability, style, and an eye toward enjoyment. The crank lift is strong enough for commercial use but designed for user-friendly operation in a cottage or home setting.

The mast and critical joints are aluminum, the hardware is stainless steel, and it has robust construction. With the high-wind stabilizers affixed it is even stronger.

“There are various mounting options available as well,” explains John. “It can be set on any surface as either a permanent or semi-permanent fixture.”

If you’re looking to take the performance up even further, John and Trevor recommend Tuuci umbrellas. Manufactured in Miami and produced exclusively with marine grade materials, Tuuci umbrellas are designed to handle the most intense pressures from Mother Nature.

With a market-best marine grade canopy and a frame built to last generations, it will be the last umbrella you ever need to buy.

“A Tuuci umbrella lasts a lifetime,” says Trevor. “They are the strongest umbrellas you’ll find anywhere.”

Muskoka Teak also carries the FIM umbrella. This Made In Canada umbrella uses Italian-made parts which are brought to this country for assembly. The canvases are sewn in Canada as well.

John and Trevor have been selling FIM umbrellas for 20 years and absolutely love them. With an easy to operate 360-degree rotation, it is a great way to beat the heat as the sun moves throughout the sky; just move the umbrella, not your furniture.

However, FIM umbrellas aren’t made to cover large areas with extended seating, so the need was there to find an umbrella that could provide shade for a wider area without reaching the elite cost of a Tuuci.

“The Frankford solves that issue and provides cottagers in Muskoka another option,” explains John.

Comfortable seating
Muskoka Teak also has a new line of furniture which combines the durability and strength of teak and stainless steel with the comfort of their renowned batyline sling. Sofas, loungers, club chairs and other items are built to last and ready for your enjoyment – and they are hassle-free.

“They’re built strong and heavy and made with Muskoka cottages in mind,” says John. “They won’t blow off the dock. They are virtually maintenance-free and will last as long as you own your cottage.”

All components are water resistant, preventing moisture from causing rot and allowing you the convenience of leaving everything outside through the spring, summer, and fall.

Teak furniture is naturally repellent to wood-boring insects and fungus. It won’t warp or crack, and it may never need to be replaced.

“Our products have the strength and beauty you want for your family and friends,” says Trevor. “They’ll last you a lifetime.”

Teak for all occasions
For over two decades, Muskoka Teak has been providing their clients with top-of-the-line exterior and interior furniture for all occasions. John and Trevor have been designing and directing the production of all their furniture since the business began.

Whether it’s a 12-person teak patio harvest table with matching chairs or a custom coffee table for your living room, they’ll provide you with strong, durable pieces for your property.

Visit the Muskoka Teak showroom in Port Carling – you can’t miss it, just look for the teak moose out front – where the experts can help you find the best fit for your space. “We want you to enjoy our products and feel they make sense at your cottage,” says John. “We only sell you what you need, and we consistently beat our online competitors on price.”
