Muskoka Beer Spa

Resort marries spa experience with fun

When booking a day or weekend at the spa, you’re probably looking for the quintessential relaxation and rejuvenation offerings: massages, pedicures, hot tubs, and . . . beer?

If you want a full Canadian outdoor experience, then usually beer is part of the equation.

What you’ll get when you visit the Muskoka BeerSpa in Torrance is an intentional blending of the two.

“We have married the traditional spa experience with having fun and celebrating craft beer in a Muskoka-style setting,” says Melissa Whittle, Director of Groups, Events and General Shenanigans. “We’re blending wellness and social events to maximize our guests’ enjoyment.”

This is the evolution of Clear Lake Village Resort and its associated craft brewing company. Overnight cabins are equipped with draught taps that can provide Clear Lake Brewing Co beers in-room. There is also the ‘two beer pedicure,’ beer yoga, and an atmosphere that views going to the spa as a social event.

The ‘two beer’ will have you soaking your feet in converted kegs, then have them gently scrubbed using a beer based exfoliant. And naturally, you’ll have a delicious beer in hand. The pedicure area in the spa has room for six people at a time, so make sure to bring a friend – or five.

“There’s no shushing in BeerSpa!’ says Melissa. “It’s an everybody welcome, social thing. You can sit around and chat in a very relaxing atmosphere.”

The property has everything one expects of a spa, including outdoor and indoor experiences: amenities include two outdoor hot baths, three saunas, a steam room, a relaxation pool, hammock forest, social cabanas, outdoor massage cabanas, dump buckets and much more.

While beer is plentiful, there will be other beverage selections available, including an array of tequilas and margaritas at the El Gringo Cantina – an onsite food truck serving Mexican food and drink.

“It’s not all about beer,” says Melissa. “Even at the bar, other drink options are available. Obviously, it’s a beer themed spa with the Clear Lake Brewery next door. Still, we don’t want anyone to feel pigeonholed, so we provide variety.”

The Muskoka BeerSpa is a 19-plus environment open daily from 9 a.m. to dusk – the hot tubs have to be closed at dusk – that is part of an ecosystem of enjoyment where you can detox, retox and relax.

“There is something called balance – balance is key. You can work on your wellness and health, but then get together with family and friends for good food and a good time in a good environment.”
