We buy art for many reasons: to beautify our homes, as an investment, as an expression of who we are. Jason Lilley of Mill Lane Saunas creates saunas that are art for your soul and for your property.
“It’s a personal statement, a reflection of your unique taste and style. Just as your house is a testament to your personality, your sauna should be, too,” he says.
Jason crafts unique saunas, each one a reflection of the individual aesthetic of his customers. “We can create a design with all glass, a contemporary style, or we can perfectly match the siding with your house or cottage. These are not your typical saunas; they are one-of-a-kind, just like you.”
The physical and mental health benefits of regular sauna use are well-documented, especially in European countries that have been using them for many years. “They’re way ahead of us, but we’re gradually catching up.”
Even when it’s not heated, the sauna serves as a meditation space. “I use mine to decompress. To find a quiet place to collect my thoughts and leave the day’s stress behind me. For 15 minutes to an hour, this is my time,” Jason says.
“It’s not just for sweating and detoxing, although those are also important functions, too. It’s a living space – it’s form melding with function. It’s a place to find your own inner peace.”
The process
“You have your own idea of what you want, and I translate that idea to reality. Do you want it angled for the view? Do you want folding benches? Is it going to be two-tiered? An L-shape? I’m going to bring your dream to fruition.”
Mill Lane Saunas doesn’t rely on computer-generated plans. “Our process is a labor of love, done by hand. It’s the traditional way, when quality and personal style were paramount. You can trust that your sauna is not just a product but a work of art, meticulously crafted to your specifications.”
Jason does each step of the process himself, from the initial consultation to design to construction. “You’re not dealing with three different parties. There is no manufacturer. It’s all me.”
Building saunas was never Jason’s original plan, but once he’d built his own, he realized how much joy he felt doing it, and he wanted to bring that joy to others.
“I love bringing people’s ideas to life. I love the look in their eyes when they see the finished product. I enjoy creating functional art that lasts a lifetime. It’s a great job.”
