Rejuvenation has been the central concept of medical aesthetics for years, helping clients reverse the signs of aging and skin damage. But with neuromodulators (Botox and Dysport), fillers, and medical-grade skin care treatments like facials and peels becoming more common among people in their 20s and 30s, Dr. Kersti Kents says the concept of rejuvenation is quickly being replaced with “pre-juvenation.”
Pre-juvenation, explains the owner of Medical Aesthetics of Muskoka (MAOM), works to pause or delay signs of the aging process before it has begun, instead of trying to turn back the clock.
“It’s a great concept. One that can save your skin before the damage takes place,” says Dr. Kents. “But it can also be dangerous, especially if you’re bouncing around between providers.”
If you’re not being seen by the same provider for every visit, your results won’t be the same either.
At MAOM, Dr. Kents has assembled a committed team of medical aestheticians, laser technicians, RPNs, and receptionists. Together they help their clients achieve their rejuvenation and pre-juvenation objectives, leaving them looking refreshed.
“Our team has grown steadily over the years, with almost no staff turnover. Because of this consistency, we are able to develop deeper relationships with our clients. We know what they looked like when we started, and have worked together to create, and then modify, our treatment goals and objectives.”
Having history with, and trust in, your treatment provider is a huge bonus, especially if a client loses sight of their goals, or requests treatments that may create an unnatural result. “We sometimes need to have hard conversations, but this is our commitment to you. We want you to look great, not over-done. We don’t want you looking stereotypically Hollywood and fake.”
It’s also important to consider the experience your medical aesthetics provider has. MAOM has been in business for over 13 years, and Dr. Kents has over 20 years of experience as a medical doctor, including working 16 years in the ER. In both settings, she excels at putting patients at ease while treating them. If you’re new to medical aesthetics, it is natural to have some anxiety. Having a provider who is calm and communicates clearly while delivering a natural, refreshed look can make a big difference.
“I call it talkesthesia,” she says. “I’ve been doing this for so long in high-stress environments that having the opportunity to care for clients in our relaxed, calm clinic is a real joy. Having this comfort and experience allows me to focus on keeping you at ease while performing your treatments.”
Dr. Kents and her team are committed to consistency, providing clients with the security of knowing that your favorite providers will be there every time they visit.
“At MAOM, you will always receive high-quality care, treatments and results.”
