Not every company can say their former employees have become loyal customers, but that is certainly the case with Kubota North.
The Gravenhurst-based dealership provides sales and service to commercial and residential clients throughout Muskoka and the surrounding areas.
Several of their former staff have gone on to work as contractors but return to get the equipment they need to get the job done. Designed and manufactured in Japan, Kubota’s reputation in Canada is second to none. They have a variety of tractors, mowers, loaders, excavators, UTVs, side-by-sides, and more.
One of those people is Kevin Alexander, who worked as a salesperson for Kubota North before buying a barge four years ago.
“If that speaks to anything, after having sold Kubota products for so many years, it’s the product that I choose to own,” Kevin says.
As a salesperson, he talked the talk, but now he’s walking the walk when it comes to the durability and quality of the top-of-the-line, world renowned machinery. To move materials around, Kevin has been using a Kubota track skid steer for four years and an excavator for three.
“When weighing a decision to purchase a piece of equipment, the two factors are going to be performance and, in my case, weight,” he says. “So how much performance I can pack into as little weight as possible with minimal maintenance and great durability. It’s like anything: if you’re a mechanic you buy the top tools for the job; if you’re a contractor or operator, you buy Kubota.”
While Kevin’s skid steer and excavator have been working well with, “zero failures, no downtime,” he knows that if anything does need attention, the team at Kubota North are just a phone call away.
Whether it’s owners Dave and Laura Jackson, their son and company vice president Brett, general manager Pam Medland, or anyone else from their team, they have very high customer service standards.
Anyone arriving at their Winhara Road location (just look for the Kubota silo) will find a welcoming and family-like environment.
“The time I spent with them selling the equipment was fantastic. It’s a close-knit bunch,” explains Kevin. “I would buy Kubota regardless, knowing what I know about the product, but having that personal touch and a family-oriented dealership to deal with is icing on the cake. They’re good people, and they take customer service to the next level.”
