“You get what you pay for.” It’s not just a catchy saying, it should be the mantra by which home and cottage owners live by when hiring contractors for work around their property, explains Niki Pickett of Ital Paving.
She is adamant about this because she’s seen it happen too often: fly-by-night, out of town contractors offer less than market rates for paving jobs, then Niki eventually gets called in to fix the mess.
So now the homeowner has lost money on a shoddy job from a contractor they can’t get hold of and is calling the experts from Ital Paving to do the job right. In some cases, the whole driveway must be replaced.
Niki has seen this scenario play out too many times in recent years. She says home and cottage owners should be much more diligent when choosing who to hire.
“It happens way more than it should and not only in paving,” says Niki. “You have to be very, very careful about too-good-to-be true prices. You think you’re saving a couple of thousand dollars, but when the job needs to be fixed or redone, you haven’t saved anything.”

Ital Paving provides honest and competitive quotes based on accurate material and labour costs.
They have a team of paving professionals who are experts at what they do. As well, their team has WSIB coverage, employs certified and experienced professionals on their machines, and has a reputation for meeting deadlines.
Each step of the way, from the preparation to the final touches is done with craftsmanship and dedication.
“We work on each project as if we were doing it for ourselves and our families,” she says. “A couple of months ago, one of our clients told us it was the best preparation he ever saw for any construction project. That solid beginning leads into each step with the project having a great final result.”
From custom driveways in hard-to-reach areas to parking lots and golf course paths – and everything in between – Ital Paving has been doing exceptional work in Muskoka, Simcoe County, and the surrounding areas for almost 40 years.
“Our team understands the communities we service because we live here,” explains Niki. “We also give back in various ways: from hospital foundation donations to sponsoring local sports teams, we believe in supporting the communities that are supporting us.”
