Ital Paving

Avoid last second issues by scheduling early

It’s been evident for the past couple of years that it’s time to pave – or repave – the driveway. And it would be great to have smooth, solid pathways to let you move easily around the property.

None of that is going to happen once the frost hits, but that doesn’t mean planning the paving project for the 2023 season is off the table. In fact, Niki Pickett of Ital Paving recommends making those decisions now.

Not only are contractors more available to discuss budgets and options, but it also allows for project dates to be locked in before the mad rush of construction season returns. Don’t worry about trying to get hold of contractors in the spring or summer for a last-minute project, which can be a difficult proposition.

“We provide no-pressure quotes in the fall and early winter,” says Niki. “If the price works for our client, then we can lock it in and plan the project.”

Booking your 2023 project early means getting 2022 pricing for materials and labour. With inflation causing everything to increase in price, every little bit of savings can be helpful.

“It’s like planning a trip in advance to take advantage of better rates,” says Niki. “Fall and winter are the perfect time to plan your projects for the following spring and summer.”

Niki and her team have been serving Central Ontario – specifically Simcoe County and Muskoka – with quality paving for many years. They have completed exceptional projects ranging from suburban driveways to golf cart paths around lakefront properties, to long, winding driveways leading to hidden gems.

“We recently opened our Gravenhurst office, which allows us to better serve our loyal clientele throughout the surrounding communities,” says Niki.

Niki says winter is also a great time for her team to work with other contractors such as landscapers to coordinate schedules so that projects are completed in the appropriate order.

For instance, they can ensure that irrigation systems and outdoor lighting are in place before the asphalt driveway is done, just in case there is any digging required in the driveway area.

“This alleviates the burden and pressure from our client, who can rest easy knowing the companies they hired are working together,” says Niki.

It’s all part of great planning: just start now and prepare to enjoy a gorgeous look next summer.
