In the days of big box franchises, a family-owned business with a passion for Canadian-made products is increasingly rare. Irvine Carpet One has been owned and operated by two continuous generations, with a third generation currently learning the ropes. The staff also includes many longtime employees in all areas, from design and sales to installation.
“We are first and foremost about maintaining our relationships,” says owner Chris Irvine. “We’ve been working with many of our suppliers and clients for decades. That means something special.”
The family opened their first store on Collier Street in 1960. They later moved to Bayfield Street and opened a second location on Veterans Drive.
The company has always been about more than just carpeting. Quality flooring of all kinds, along with expert advice on design and décor have been part of the company story from the beginning.
“Honesty informs our every interaction,” Chris says. “Integrity is why people return to work for us and with us. We do what we say we’re going to do, and we make sure the customer is happy.” If there’s an issue, the company’s Beautiful Guarantee promise will make it right.
Being proud members of the Carpet One cooperative, which is one of the largest co-ops in North America, means being able to offer competitive pricing without scrimping on quality. It gives indie-owned business vibes with the pricing benefits enjoyed by bigger companies.
“We work with various budget ranges to make design dreams happen.”
From hardwood to tiles, vinyl and laminate flooring to carpeting, the company has a wide variety of client design needs covered.
With designers and decorators on staff, there’s every chance to create through consultation in the showroom. Come in, share a vision, or brainstorm your way to a design concept: Irvine’s team can handle it. Homegrown premium products are a major feature of the line-up. Hardwood and carpeting manufacturers include Canadian companies like Mirage, Preverco, Superior Hardwoods, and Beaulieu Carpets.
“We pride ourselves on staying current when it comes to product knowledge. Our staff is always updating their expertise when it comes to trends, building codes, new products. That’s how we’re able to offer such seasoned experience and innovation at the same time.”
If you’ve missed the personal touch of a hometown business, especially when you’re working on something as special as a décor and design project, the Irvine family approach is a welcome bit of warmth.
It’s one of the main reasons why generations of home and cottage owners, as well as builders in Simcoe, Georgian Bay and beyond choose this multi-generation one-stop shop for design and décor. It’s old school know-how meeting hot new trends: a winning combo.
