Indian River Trading Company

Equip your waterfront and let summer really begin

It’s here! It really is here at last: a summer when we can get together with friends and family, laugh, and play and do all the fabulous things that make cottage season perfect.

It’s been a long, tough wait, but with restrictions relaxing, people are celebrating and welcoming friends to play on the waterfront.

“The past year or more has really driven home the value of having a cottage,” says Kim Arnett, manager of Indian River Trading Company. “But it’s also reminded us that a cottage is best when we share it with friends. Hearing the shouts and laughter of kids climbing an inflatable tower, sitting and having a quiet chat with a friend as the sun goes down… it’s so nice to be able to do those things again.”

To make the most of these good times, of course, you need to have the right toys. And Indian River has you covered.

Rave and Aquaglide Water Trampolines have been a consistent presence on Muskoka lakes for a long time, and with good reason. They’re tough and durable, designed to stand up to the harsh sun and last for many years.

With a water trampoline in place, you can be literally jumping for joy.

Whatever floats your boat
The best waterfront toys are fun and durable. That’s certainly the case with the wide range of inflatables Indian River carries.

“Every year, we see new, crazy designs coming from the manufacturers,” says Kim. “I love it! It’s like they think of an object, then imagine it blown up to fifty times its normal size. What fun!”

Want to float on your food? How about a nine-foot slice of pizza, or a giant donut (complete with pink icing and sprinkles, of course). Animals are more your thing? Then hitch a ride on a llama, a wiener dog, a moose, or a bright gold deer. You can have a whole flock of birds, including swans, mallards, flamingos, and yellow ducklings (complete with sunglasses, naturally). There are unicorns and mermaid tails, retro camper vans and balloon dogs and some creatures that really can’t be identified! And all of them are designed to last and last, to keep the fun going for many seasons to come.

Add in a thick and playful water carpet, and some quality life jackets to keep everyone safe, and let the water play begin!

Restful and colourful
In between all that active play – or maybe instead of it – you’ll want somewhere to sit. Indian River has you covered here, too.

“We have a full line of outdoor furniture that’s second to none,” says Kim. “It’s made from recycled plastic, it is incredibly durable, and the range of colours is unbelievable.”

She’s not kidding about the colours. Sure, there are conventional shades like red, white and brown, but there is also a full rainbow of other options. Bring a playful touch to the deck with a set of Muskoka chairs in vibrant sky blue, aqua or turquoise. There are dining sets, pub sets, chaise lounges, deep seating and more.

Naturally, the furniture is all heavy-duty – no fear of strong winds blowing any of this furniture into the lake. “This is designed to last for years and years,” says Kim.

The finishing details
With the main pieces in place, it’s time to look at the finishing details that will make your cottage truly welcoming to guests. Replace that rickety dock ladder, install some storage racks for your SUPs and paddles, pick up some games like a giant Jenga set or bean bag toss. Add a couple of stylish storage bins so all those great toys have somewhere to go when they’re not in use, and you’re all set.

“We’ll get you set up with everything you need to welcome everyone back to the cottage,” says Kim. “Summer’s here, the family’s coming up. This is what it’s all about! We are your cottage lifestyle store.”

Get dirty for clean water

You may have a water treatment system, but is it doing its job? Regular maintenance is vital to keeping your water clean and safe.

REAL ESTATE

Demand still high, but buyers taking their time

The real estate market is normalizing, and despite what some panicky naysayers may think, the idea that cottage prices will be plummeting is farfetched.

HOME & COTTAGE

Tried and true collection makes an architectural statement

Revamping your style isn’t always about looking forward. Sometimes, it’s a matter of reaching into the past. After all, as the saying goes, “the
