Any day is a good day when you’re at the lake. But if you have a cottage, you’ll know that some days at the lake are better than others, especially when your property’s on a windy or unobstructed point.
“The wind can come up quickly here, and with such force that awnings, canopies and boat slip covers can come loose,” says Aquadome’s sales and marketing coordinator, Carly Caines. “That’s why it’s important that they’re built with the wind in mind.”
Aquadome has been creating dock slip awnings, cantilevered awnings, and retractable awnings for cottages across Muskoka for over 30 years. While each structure features a lightweight frame and a tightly fitted marine-grade canopy that can withstand whatever Mother Nature may throw at it, Aquadome has designed an additional wind protection package for windy properties to give them extra support on extra blustery days.
“The wind protection package includes a reinforced frame with mesh panels within the fabric that allow the air to flow through the awning,” says Carly. “It’s a big improvement from traditional awnings that can catch and get pulled by the wind, like a sail on a boat.”
In addition to being strong, each structure is crafted to add to the visual appeal of your waterfront. The frame is customized to your property, vehicle, or boat slip dimensions, and is available in the traditional raw aluminum, or powder-coated in white or black.
“We’ve also increased our fabric options to include 20 different colours, making it even easier to accent your boathouse, or match it for a seamless look.”
With so many colour options, your awning can blend in with the boathouse, or complement the colour scheme of your outdoor furniture and decor.
If your property has a western exposure, Aquadome can extend the awning valance to offer additional protection from the sun as it starts to set.
“Most awnings extend ten inches below the edge of the frame; by extending the valance to 24-inch, you can enjoy your evening at the dock without worrying about the sun in your eyes.”
Aquadome also offers side curtains that can be added to deflect wind-driven rain and to block sunlight reflecting from the water.
No matter your style or exposure to the elements, it’s easy to get a customized look for personalized protection at the lake.
