Shelter from the sun and the rain is important no matter where you live in Canada. It’s even more important when you spend lots of time outdoors or have valuables to protect.
Little surprise that cantilevered awnings and dock-slip covers have become so popular amongst cottagers and homeowners alike, explains Lindsay McCready, sales coordinator with Aquadome.
“An awning, dock-slip cover, or car shelter offers protection from UV rays and rain, as well as pine gum, bird droppings, and all the other debris that can damage valuables such as boats, cars, and furniture,” she says. “They’re also great for keeping people dry and shaded too.”
Because individual needs vary so much, a custom-designed awning or dock-slip cover is going to be far superior to any other option. The designers can create something that is exactly the right size for your dock or cottage, and ensure it mounts perfectly on the supporting structure, Lindsay explains.
A custom design lets you choose a colour that complements the building – Aquadome has 20 fabric colours and can provide frames in a silvery aluminium tone or powder-coated in white or black.
The support structure can be mounted on both sides of a boat slip or cantilevered from the side of a dock, boathouse, cottage, or other surface.
A custom awning or canopy can also include additional levels of protection, to enhance its function and visual appeal and take your outdoor living spaces to the next level.
For example, the valance on most awnings extends ten inches below the edge of the frame; Aquadome offers an optional 24-inch valance that provides extra protection at sunrise and sunset, when the sun is low. Side curtains can also be added to deflect wind-driven rain and to block sunlight reflecting from the water.
By designing and manufacturing their own shade solutions in Muskoka, Aquadome has full control over the entire process and is able to meet the needs of each individual property. With tightly fitted marine-grade canopies and strong frame construction, they have built a reputation for durability over more than 30 years.
“We have plenty of choices to meet our clients’ wants and needs,” says Lindsay. “Our team has years of experience providing quality shade and shelter solutions to homes and cottages throughout central Canada.”
